#8 Hung Huynh

The Facts:

• Hung Huynh is the first Asian American winner of hit reality TV show Top Chef, which is currently airing on Bravo TV.
  
• Top Chef can be seen as a cooking version of American Idol where contestants compete against each other in cook-offs and challenges to produce the tastiest and most creative dishes.
  
• He won for his high level of technique and was noticed for his impressive knife skills which judge and chef Tom Collichio praised as to have been the best among all contestants ever on the show.
• When asked his favorite cook, he answered that his mother was the "best cook in the world" for her preparation of comforting Vietnamese dishes.
• Hung was born in Vietnam and raised in Pittsfield, MA.
• His father immigrated to the US on a wooden boat; he was a refugee from the Vietnamese War.
• He is now an executive chef at Solo but plans to open his own restaurant in the near future.
