#3 Anita Lo

The Facts:

• Anita Lo is the celebrated chef and owner of Annisa, a restaurant she opened seven years ago.
• Annisa is one of only two woman owned restaurants that have earned a coveted star in the New York edition of the Michelin Guide. It has been described as a restaurant that serves contemporary American cuisine with Southeast Asian and Mediterranean accents.
  
• She is Chinese-American and was born in Birmingham, MI.
• In 2001, she was chosen as one of ten Food & Wine's America's Best New Chefs.
• Her cooking often reflects heavy Asian and Middle Eastern influences.
• She was featured on the popular TV show Iron Chef in which she competes in a cook-off against Chef Mario Batali and wins.
• Recently she has opened Bar Q, an Asian-style barbecue restaurant that also features a raw bar.
