The Facts:
- Cristeta Comerford is the current White House Executive Chef.
- She was not only the first Executive Chef of Asian descent but also the first woman to be appointed to the position.
- First Lady Laura Bush appointed her to the position in 2005.
- She immigrated to the US at the age of 23 from the Philippines and is now a naturalized US citizen.
- According to an article in the Washington Post, she secured her position after her handling of a large dinner party held in honor of the Indian Prime Minister.
- She is said to have served chilled asparagus soup and lemon cream with pan-roasted halibut and basmati rice at that dinner party.
